From furniture to dental work, many of your purchases can be managed easily with Extra Credit from your local merchant and Alaska USA. Extra Credit is a revolving credit line provided by many local merchants through an arrangement with Alaska USA. You apply for Extra Credit at a participating merchant location. Once approved, you receive a special credit card - with your name and the name of the merchant - for use only at that location. What kinds of merchants offer Extra Credit? Merchants include those selling appliances, home entertainment equipment, home furnishings, personal computers and personal recreation equipment. A number of dental offices, veterinarians, and other service providers also offer Extra Credit. How do I find out if a merchant participates in the Alaska USA Extra Credit program? Ask at the merchant location, or call the Member Service Center. Why is Extra Credit a benefit to me? Extra Credit can help you manage the cost of large purchases. As an alternative to higher interest credit cards, it can save you money in the long run. Plus, many merchants provide same-as-cash terms on selected purchases. There's usually no down payment required - and monthly payments are low. Even better, there are no monthly payments required during a same-as-cash time period. Extra Credit can also be a convenient way to make additional purchases at that merchant location. What kind of fees can I expect? The only fee associated with the Extra Credit card is a late payment fee - and the maximum is only $5! There are no application fees, transaction fees, annual fees or over-the-credit-limit fees. There is also no minimum finance charge. How do I make payments on my card? There are several payment options, including automatic payments, online transfers, by phone through the Member Service Center and payments by mail. How do I apply? Ask your merchant for an Extra Credit application. Fill it out, the merchant will submit it to Alaska USA and you'll get an answer in minutes! 7 days a week! Highlights
