Phishing is a type of fraud that uses e-mail to direct you to bogus (but very real-looking) web sites. The e-mail tries to convince you to click a link to the site and enter your personal information, which will then be used for criminal purposes. A similar scheme uses phone calls to trick you, often directing you to an automated-response phone system. This is sometimes called voice phishing or vishing.
